created Michał SielskiDecember 18, 2020

The price of CD Projekt shares has already dropped by almost 50% since the record highs at the beginning of December. On Friday, December 18.12.2020, 2077, another blow fell on the company and its shareholders. Sony decided to remove Cyberpunk 4 from the Playstation Store, because the game was not adapted, among others to the PSXNUMX console.

On December 7, 2020, the shares of the Polish game producer CD Projekt cost PLN 464,20. About this price - at least for now - can be forgotten. And there are many indications that it will be rather for long. At. 10:00 On December 18, 2020, CD Projekt shares can be purchased for PLN 262, and in the morning they were even cheaper. This is the effect of a nearly 20% gap in the opening following the company's announcement. For everyone expected trouble, but few were so.

Game refund, refund

“- The management board of CD Projekt SA with its seat in Warsaw announces the decision of Sony Interactive Entertainment to remove until further notice the digital version of Cyberpunk 2077 from sale from PlayStation Store. The decision was made after the Company's consultations with representatives of Sony Interactive Entertainment regarding the possibility of returning the game to people who purchased it in a digital version through PlayStation Store and would like to return it. (...) All digital copies of the game sold so far via PlayStation Store remain available for use by existing buyers. Players can invariably purchase a boxed version of the game either directly or by mail order. Both digital and physical copies of the game will be continuously supported and will receive future updates from the company " - we read in the company's announcement.

So Sony is offering a full refund to everyone who bought Cyberpunk 2077 and wants to return it. And this is regardless of the version of the game purchased. You can give away any of them - even if it works well on your hardware, but the client is not satisfied with the game for whatever reason. This is undoubtedly dangerous for CD Projekt and may have a significant impact on sales results, because according to estimates, about 70% of all games sold could have been in the console version. If we add those who simply did not like the game, there can be a lot of returns.

Cyberpunk 2077 was supposed to be a hit

Cyberpunk 2077 ignited the emotions of players and stock market investors long before its debut. It was discussed from the very beginning of the information that CD Projekt was working on it. When it turned out that even the actor Keanu Reeves, known e.g. With the hits of Matrix and John Wick, the shopping craze has reached its zenith.

After the debut, however, it turned out that the game is much less polished than its marketing. First of all, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions were full of bugs. Previously, no one expected this, because reviewers could only test the computer version of the game. No wonder that the reviews before the debut were enthusiastic and everyone expected a huge sales and image success. But none of that.

After the debut, it was not so rosy and the company received a wave of well-deserved criticism. So CD Projekt put all its strength to patch the holes as quickly as possible and the first tranche of corrections has just been implemented. The next one is to be ready within a week at the latest.

“We will release updates as soon as new patches are ready. After Christmas, we will continue our work: we will release two major patches, the first of which will be released in January and the second in February. This should fix the most significant bugs faced by players on last-gen consoles " - informs CD Projekt in a press release.
