US inflation is not letting go | What will the week bring?

created Forex ClubSEPTEMBER 17, 2022

Inflation in the United States is not letting go, and the publication of the September CPI data led to a massive depreciation of the US stock indices. However, the sudden shift in sentiment on the charts stunned analysts, as did the results of the new model European Central Bank. They show that the ECB only needs to raise the deposit rate to 2% or even lower in order to bring inflation back to the 2,25% target if it reduces its balance sheet at the same time.

Time for stock exchange retreat?

Therefore, Thursday's session on Wall Street gives investors hope that the worst may be behind us. Percentage of falling days in the chart S & P500 is already close to the record from 1974, and the most likely result of the November elections in the United States statistically supported the increases in the index in the last months of the election year. Nevertheless, while the current inflation-adjusted valuation of the S & P500 has fallen sharply in recent weeks, it is still at noticeably higher levels than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. Inflation is not letting go, but is it a further valuation risk?
