MetaTrader 4 will stop working on older Windows

created Paweł MosionekJune 13 2017

MetaTrader 4 and 5 will not be further supported - such a message was issued by the creator of the most popular trading platform Forex . MetaQuotes.

New means better?

xpNot necessarily, but definitely safer in this situation. Windows XP, which was once a great revolution and one of the most popular versions of Microsoft's operating systems. Although it made its debut in October 2001, there are still some people who use it. This is especially true for users of older computers.

Microsoft itself has already announced the end of support for older Windows systems, including XP, Vista, and Windows 2003. Lack of support means a greater chance of problems with use and infection with a virus / trojan. In a way, it forces users to switch to a "newer model".

End of support for MetaTrader

Third party software developers must follow the giant's blow. Hence the decision MetaQuotes about ending support for MT4 on older Windows systems. The end of support in this case, however, means something more. MQ announced that after SEPTEMBER 1, 2017 year MT4 and MT5 will not be able to be updated. They will also not be able to be reinstalled on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 2003. The problem with the complete lack of installation and access / connection will not affect users who will have the platform installed on an older system before the mentioned date.

The lack of updates for transaction platforms is also a risk. Although MT4 has been on the market since 14 for years, new updates are regularly released to improve the operation of the platform and increase the level of security.

Start of changes

Voices have been heard for a long time about plans to completely end supporting the older product - MT4. It seems only a matter of time before a complete four is extinguished in favor of a newer five. An increasing number of brokers are introducing MetaTrader 5 as a second, alternative platform, although this still does not enjoy much interest. Probably the software developers are just waiting for the right one to be able to give up MT4 with an imperceptible outflow of users.
