Satoshi Nakamoto is back? 26,9 BTC was sent to the address of the Bitcoin creator

created Michał SielskiJanuary 8 2024

A rich man's whim and celebrating the birth of BTC - is Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto back? We don't know yet and we may never know. One thing is certain: someone bought on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance 26,9 BTC and sent them to the first-ever cryptocurrency address, belonging to the creator of Bitcoin, the legendary Satoshi Nakamoto. The transaction is worth – a trifle – USD 1,2 million.

While everyone is waiting for approval ETF on Bitcoin and analyze any leaks from the SEC, which is expected to approve (or not) the applications, almost unnoticeably, 15 years have passed since the creation of Bitcoin. The anniversary was not particularly celebrated, unless we consider what happened 4 days after the birthday as a late gift.

Recall: Bitcoin was invented and created by a person who signed himself as Satoshi Nakamoto. To this day, it is not known whether it was one genius or maybe a group of programmers. All leads turned out to be blind, and the creator of the new financial world fell into the ground at the very beginning of the project. He simply wrote suddenly to a programmer friend - Michael Hern  -  that he is already leaving Bitcoin because "he needs to take care of other things". And since then he hasn't posted any more (at least officially). All attempts to find him failed.

Meanwhile, 4 days after Bitcoin's 15th anniversary, to the address that was created on the occasion Genesis Block, someone transferred USD 1,2 million worth of BTC. 26,9 BTC was transferred from Binance cryptocurrency exchanges. The transaction fee came to $100, which was quite high even for that amount.

Will a Bitcoin tsunami flood the market?

Let us add that there is no doubt that this address belongs to Satoshi Nakamoto. No moves have been made on it since April 2011. There's still quite a fortune there. At first it was 50 BTC for mining the Genesis Block. Then, over the years, the number of BTCs increased to 72 - from time to time, more coins were sent to him, most often as a tribute, not by mistake. Currently, it is almost 100 BTC.

The market was immediately full of questions and theories on this subject. Has anyone made a mistake? Did he really transfer $1,2 million to the address of Bitcoin's creator? Or maybe it was Satoshi Nakamoto himself who decided to return?  For now, there is no indication of this, but if the legendary cryptographer wanted to come back and cash in even part of his funds, the market would be flooded with a wave of cryptocurrencies. In fact, it's almost a tsunami, because the mentioned 100 BTC is, of course, just a drop in the ocean of coins controlled by him.

Satoshi Nakamoto the richest man in the world?

On-chain research has long proven that Nakamoto controls wallets containing over 1,1 million BTC. These are coins worth over USD 47 billion today.

This looks interesting when compared to the forecasts for the increase in the price of Bitcoin, which regularly appear on the market. According to some, the cryptocurrency can easily reach a price of USD 1 million per piece. And this would make Satoshi Nakamoto the richest man on the planet.

If, of course, such a character still exists.
