Only 15% of Polish investors have foreign assets

85% of those polled in the latest eToro study she confessed that does not invest in international assets. Only 15% of respondents have foreign assets in their portfolios. More people would like to invest in global markets if they had better access to information about them in Polish, the study showed.

Why Polish investors are afraid of abroad

The main concerns mentioned by the respondents were: lack of knowledge on how to evaluate international assets (27%), lack of sufficient command of the English language (22%), lack of knowledge about access to information (20%). 18% prefers to support Polish industries, and 11% admits that he knows the Polish market better than the global one. 10% feels safer investing in domestic assets. 12% of the respondents believe that the costs of investing in foreign assets are too high.

The survey shows that respondents could invest in global markets more willingly if they had the support of an adviser (24%) or access to information in Polish (22%). 19% expects better access to information on the various assets. The same number of respondents would invest in foreign assets more often if their friends were successful in this field. The ability to pay out in local currency is an important factor for 14% respondents. 9% declares that it does not want to invest in global markets at all.

“The global stock market offers great opportunities for investors thanks to its diversification. It is a pity that Poles invest in the global market much less frequently than other nations. A handful of people choose global markets. Why?

The research conducted by eToro shows that those Poles who decide to invest in global markets have different motivations. 29% has greater confidence in the growth potential of international equities. 24% predicts that long-term profits on the foreign market will be higher than on the Polish market. The same number of respondents want to invest in companies and sectors that will have a positive impact on the climate. Not much less because 21% wants to invest in international brands, companies and sectors it knows and believes in their future. 15% wants to diversify its portfolio in various world economies. 14% pay attention to whether the companies have a real ESG program.

"For a long time, the biggest problem was the lack of access to foreign stock. Now that has changed, thanks to the development of digitization and the elimination of barriers to investment. Now that access to foreign stocks has become easy and cheap, the biggest limitation is the lack of knowledge and experience in foreign markets. However, the great performance of American or global equities is starting to encourage Polish investors to diversify their portfolios internationally, thus helping to reduce risk. " - Majtkowski adds.

Most popular markets

When it comes to international assets, kryptowaluty are the most frequently chosen asset classes among the respondents (37%). He puts on the goods 24%and on currency 22%. 17% invests in stocks. The remaining international asset classes most willingly chosen by the respondents are: bonds (15%), mutual funds (11%) i ETFs (8%).

Interestingly, according to of the respondents the following markets:

  11. 13% of respondents do not have an opinion or cannot answer.

A third of respondents do not know if they will change their investment levels in the next 12 months, but 26% plans their growth. 24% keep the level of foreign investment at the same level, and 18% it will reduce them.
