Tesla shares at the top, Elon Musk the richest in the world

created Michał SielskiJanuary 8 2021

Tesla's stock price went up eight times in 2020, continued in early 2021, made it Elon Musk became the richest man in the world. The capitalization of the automotive company is ahead of all competitors in the industry, even those who sell several times more cars. Tesla shares are the most expensive ever, with investors valuing the company at $ 773 billion.

For years, Tesla sold cars, but it was also famous for its very ambitious and never fully implemented plans. 2020 was, however, a breakthrough. Although the announced delivery of 500 cars in 12 months, but only 450 were short of this result, and it has never been so close.

HOW TO BUY TESLA SHARES [GUIDE]

The last quarter was record-breaking - customers picked up 180 new Tesla, which is the most cars of this brand in history. Thus, 570% more cars were produced annually than in the previous year. Production is Tesla's biggest problem. There is no shortage of orders, and customers wait months for the car of their choice. So it happens that they finally give up and feed the results of the competition, because practically all the largest (and also much smaller) companies already produce electric cars.

Competition like crumbs

With an almost eightfold price increase in 2020, Tesla is currently the highest valued automotive company in the world. Although, among others Toyota and Volkswagen sell a dozen or so times more cars a year, but investors take into account the expected increase in Tesla sales. In 2021, two large factories of these cars will be launched - in Texas in the USA and in Berlin in Germany. The company is also developing in China. It was in Shanghai that the production of the latest Y model began. And Tesla is also fashionable among retail investors, and this is also important on the stock exchange.

Tesla will also be finally available for purchase in Poland. Last year - despite the fact that we had no showroom - Poles ordered 138 different Tesla models (the cheapest one costs about PLN 200). The company has therefore decided that the market is so promising that it is worth investing more in it and in the next few weeks it will open a showroom in Ząbki near Warsaw.

Interestingly, the valuation of Tesla - despite improving results and the company's plans - is still much higher than traditional leaders in this industry. Despite record sales of almost 500 cars, it does not stand up to a comparison with, for example, Toyota or Volkswagen (over 10 million cars per year). It's the same with revenues and profits, yet Tesla is worth more than Ferrari, Ford, Suzuki, Subaru, Honda, General Motors, Hyundai, Fiat, Citroen, Chrysler, Renault and Nissan - all taken together ...

Tesla is growing, Elon Musk is getting rich

With a valuation of 7 per share as of January 2021, 816,04, the company's market capitalization has already exceeded $ 773 billion. Elon Musk, on the other hand, is the direct owner of 18% of the shares, which are worth over $ 139 billion. However, it must also be remembered that this is not the only company he runs. In recent times, the most talked about SpaceXthat has already successfully completed a manned mission to the International Space Station (ISS). It was the first manned flight from the USA in almost 10 years. At the same time, a ship manufactured by a private company took astronauts into space for the first time. He earned his first big money by founding and running PayPal.

Thanks to this, Elon Musk has just become the richest man in the world with a net worth of $ 198 billion. So he overtook Jeff Bezos, head of Amazon.com.
