Binance is not only one of the largest, but also the most trusted cryptocut exchange platforms in the world. According to the estimates of the CoinMarketCup portal daily turnover on it reaches 927 million dollarsand often exceed 1 billion dollars during 24 hours. This is an absolute leader in the world.

It turns out, however, that even the best can fall victim to a hacker attack. It came to him on Tuesday, 7 May 2019, when the hackers crossed the security in Binance. The company has just officially admitted it.

42 million PLN stolen in one transaction

Burglary was detected after. 19 on Tuesday. Of course, the company does not specify how it came to it, but it reveals quite a few details. It turns out that the hackers have stolen 7 thousand. Bitcoins in one transaction. It's about 2 percent. all Bitcoins available at that time on the stock exchange, and according to the valuation of 8 May 2019, they are worth around 42 million zlotys!

We learn that from the material on the Binance blog. Among other things, the authors reveal that as a result of the hacking, hackers came into possession of API keys and two-step verification (2FA) codes. However, this is not all, because we can also read there that the company does not know what it has lost. This may suggest the turn that other data also came out. What? We don't know that.

Another hacker attack can happen?

Does this mean that the funds accumulated in Binance are not safe?

- Only one wallet has been hacked, everything else is safe and intact - assures the founder of the Changpeng Zhao exchange.

The Binance CEO also emphasizes that the attack was well planned. Computer viruses and the so-called phishing [catching passwords - ed], which resulted in access to one of the wallets.

The company immediately took precautionary measures. The most important of them - and certainly the most disruptive for its clients - is to block all withdrawals of each user of the exchange. It is supposed to take up to a week. During this time, it will not only be possible to withdraw money, but also to deposit it. This is to help in carefully examining how the extortion happened. Then it will be time to patch the hole and take other countermeasures to reduce the risk of similar events in the future.

Binance: user funds are not at risk

The stock exchange emphasizes in the announcement that none of its users will lose money.
