Jackson Hole 2021 - everything you need to know

Jackson Hole Symposium is an annual meeting of central bankers organized by the branch Fed from Kansas City. It gained publicity after it became a place where future directions of changes in US monetary policy were announced.

This year's symposium is held under the slogan: "Macroeconomic Policy in an Uneven Economy" ("Macroeconomic Policy in an Imbalance Economy"). Due to the ongoing pandemic, the symposium is online and has been limited to only one day (August 27) of the three originally scheduled (August 26-28).

The main event of the symposium is the speech of the Fed chairman scheduled for Friday, August 27 at 16:00 CET Jerome Powell. Some hope that it will be used to inform the financial markets that at the September meeting of the FOMC (September 21-22), a decision to limit the asset purchase program (the so-called Tapering), which will come into force later this year.

Jerome Powell he will not be the only Fed representative to speak at the symposium. Others will also comment. At the moment, however, the details are not known yet. The full agenda will be published on Friday at 02:00 Polish time.
