Legia Warszawa is the first Polish club with cryptocurrency

created Michał Sielski23 February 2021

We do not know the price, number of tokens or the date of their introduction yet, but one thing is certain - the Polish football champion Legia Warsaw will be the first sports club that will offer its fans - and not only - cryptocurrency. The biggest clubs in the world have similar tokens: Barcelona, Juventus Turin and PSG. The issue will take place on a well-known platform Full team. The negotiations started in 2018.

Cryptocurrency exchanges 2021 [Summary]

Legia - although it has the largest budget in Poland, exceeding PLN 100 million per season - is still looking for new ways of financing, because it also has considerable debts. The construction of an effective training center for young people, unsuccessful performances in European cups and the inability to allow fans to enter the stadium due to the coronavirus resulted in the box office having already approx. PLN 170 million in debt.

One of the ideas for saving the budget is to appeal to those who often care about the club the most - the fans. They are to be the main driving force of the offer that will allow the issuance of the club's cryptocurrency.

Millions of tokens

The fact that it is not impossible is confirmed by the recent history. Club tokens are becoming more and more popular. Moreover, the biggest clubs sell them literally on the stump. FC Barcelona cryptocurrency, valued at 800. USD spread in ... 2 minutes from the start of the subscription. 5 minutes to collect 675 thousand from the market The Turkish Trabzonspor needed USD.

Many European clubs have their cryptocurrencies. Among them, among others AC Milan, Juventus Turin, Atletico Madrid, PSG and even the UFC - the famous American mixed martial arts organization.

Who benefits from it?

It is known that the cryptocurrency market is associated with rapid exchange rate changes, but also with big money. And these associations are not groundless. The Socios platform, which will create the Legia Warszawa token, generated USD 2020 million in revenues in 30. They were distributed not only between the operator and his partners, but also clubs.

Fans - holders of tokens also benefit. The clubs themselves decide about the profits, but, for example, FC Barcelona fans decided, among others, what the captain's armband looks like on Lionel Messi. AC Milan fans holding club tokens chose the motivational slogan that is in the team's changing room today. Virtually everyone has access to the latest information from the club. In Atletico Madrid, it is enough to have two tokens (they cost 2 euro when issued) to have a discount in club shops. Lotteries are also organized with interesting prizes - such as a seat at the bench during a league match or a dinner with the players.

Can you earn on the club cryptocurrency?

The price is shaped classically - on the basis of supply and demand. So it can be safely assumed that the more popular the club, the more people willing to have its tokens. The price increases with sports successes, but it also depends on the creativity of marketing departments, because they are behind the bonuses for cryptocurrency holders.

In the case of the PSG token, its price began to rise rapidly when the media reported that Neymar would sign a new contract with the club and extend the contract. Barcelona tokens are currently the most expensive - they can be purchased for $ 15, while Atletico Madrid cost $ 9. The tokens also get more expensive depending on how much influence they have on the club's decision. Therefore, some teams have already limited the voting power so that one person or group does not have a key influence on all decisions.
