Owner of Alpha Finex stopped by the police

created Paweł Mosionek5 February 2017

Eyal P., an Israeli citizen who is suspected of extorting about PLN 4 million to the detriment of over 100 clients, was arrested on February 3 at the Polish-Belarusian border during an attempt to escape from the country, the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw reported. The suspect is facing up to 10 years in prison. Why are we writing about it? Eyal P. is the owner of the "investment house" Alpha Finex, which gained infamous publicity by offering "high-yield and reliable investments" in stock exchange debuts as well as in derivatives on the Forex market based on the recommendations of "specialists". The company itself operated without the required licenses and permits, and has recently been added to the list of public warnings of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (Check the whole list: Pseudo-brokers were put on the list of KNF warnings).

The mechanism was very simple. It started with the illegal purchase of a customer database, which was then intensively called by employees of the company. Individuals claiming to be investment specialists and experienced brokers offered to buy shares or CFDs for shares of companies entering the stock exchange and / or instruments on the Forex market (including mainly currency pairs), while promising a certain and high profit in a short time. The funds were lost at an alarming rate. The investments themselves did not reach the end, and all losses were settled within the company and thus went to Eyal P's account.

We have already warned about the mechanism itself last year:

Why (not) invest in company debuts with Forex brokers?

The investigation into irregularities in the stock market was conducted since August 2016. In October last year, in addition to the allegation made by the Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk under Art. 178 of the Act on Trading in Financial Instruments, the Israeli suspect was charged with the crime of extorting property of significant value.
