Poles about cryptocurrencies: they have heard something, but do not understand much

created Michał SielskiJanuary 25 2022

While in almost the entire developed world cryptocurrencies are becoming more and more popular, in some countries they are even the official tender and one of the basic investment assets, Poles admit that their knowledge of digital money is average at best, and it is still the case. an extremely elegant statement - this is the result of research carried out by the largest Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zonda.

The CAWI survey was conducted on January 7-10, 2022. The survey included a nationwide sample of 1071 people, selected representatively from the population of internet users aged over 18, also divided proportionally by sex, age and place of residence.

However, the summary of the results of these studies may be optimistic. Although Poles most often do not visit specialized websites devoted to cryptocurrencies, they also do not visit English-language websites (e.g. btcloopholepro.com/bg), but 9 out of 10 Poles have heard of cryptocurrencies.

As many as 75% of those who have heard admit, however, that the level of their knowledge ends with the fact that cryptocurrencies… exist. On the other hand, 10% say that they have already invested in cryptocurrencies, which means that practically everyone who has heard about them saw it as their chance to multiply their wealth.

Cryptocurrencies are a strong trend in search engines

The fact is that it has been hard not to hear about cryptocurrencies in recent years. In the past year, it increased significantly Bitcoin (BTC), altcoins were also growing, and some of them - especially strongly speculative - passed the rally, which can be easily compared to saying "from zero to a millionaire", because in some cases it was enough to invest literally 100 zlotys to turn it into a round one after a few months. million zlotys.

In Poland, the word "cryptocurrencies" was entered into the Google search engine in 2021 as many as 90,5 thousand. times a month, i.e. more than twice as often as in 2020.

No digital currency is no knowledge

Experts emphasize that the lack of knowledge may be influenced by the fact that our government has been silent about cryptocurrencies for years, and even directly admits that it does not plan to start work on the digital zloty - unlike other countries, some of which are already on the final straight at implementing a digital version of your money.

- The data from the study confirms our assumptions that the overall level of knowledge about cryptocurrencies is still very low. This is quite disturbing as the numbers show that the use of cryptocurrencies will increase significantly in the coming years. Currently 87 countries around the world are exploring the possibility of introducing their own digital currency, and 9 have already done so. Moreover, it is only a matter of time until cryptocurrencies become a regularly offered payment method in online stores, as 72 percent. Retailers around the world plan to introduce them in the next three years. However, the lack of adequate knowledge, with the sheer volume of disinformation on the subject of cryptocurrencies, contributes to the fact that many people hesitate to take advantage of one of the greatest innovations of our time - says Kamil Sikorski, Chief Growth Officer and Poland Country Head at Zonda.

They will be young to invest in cryptocurrencies

The majority of Poles who intend to buy cryptocurrencies are aged 25-34. They plan investments in this sector and often for much more money than before.

Recent declines on the cryptocurrency market, which in most cases have been discounted by about 50%, may - contrary to appearances - have a positive effect on these plans, because although now the market is saturated with fear and no one knows if this is the end of the declines, the overestimated values are already are, or at any moment will be even more attractive to investors who will want to enter the market.
