Admirals increases the protection of client funds to EUR 100

created Paweł Mosionek9 March 2021

Admirals broker, until recently operating as Admiral Markets, announced that as of March 1, its clients' funds gained additional collateral. The total amount of insurance currently covers 100% of the sum up to 100 euros.

Safety first

Company Admirals did a rebranding last week and thus began farewell to the old name - Admiral Markets. According to the representatives, it is a continuation of the ongoing evolution and development of the company. And it didn't take long for another positive piece of information to come from "Admirals". First things first.

It is no secret that the Cypriot regulations have not been very popular among retail investors for several years. This indirectly has a negative impact on the reception of brokers operating under the local flag, even those renowned and operating worldwide. The whole thing was complicated by Brexit, which, in a way, forced British brokers to diversify their licenses in order to be able to continue operating in the European Union without any disruptions. After all, many companies have decided to visit Cyprus. This was also the decision made by Admirals, who previously served clients from Europe under British FCA license, and recently under Cyprus CySEC.

The problem is not the prejudices themselves. One of the significant differences is primarily the sum insured by guarantee funds. Funds up to £ 85 are 000% protected in Great Britain. This limit was raised from £ 50 in 000. What is the situation in Cyprus? Investor Compensation Fund provides a 100% guarantee up to the amount of EUR 20. So the difference is significant. Admirals dealt with this problem and solved it by additionally insuring all customer accounts at Lloyd's of London 100% up to EUR 100.

How the guarantee fund works at Admirals

The changes affect all accounts at Admirals. No additional steps are required. What is covered? Only eligible securities and funds of Admiral Markets Cyprus clients in the event of a broker defaulting. The investment results achieved on the account are not covered by the insurance.

Remember that the best choice is always to diversify your funds between several reputable and regulated brokers and keep your balance only in the amount actually necessary for the planned investments.
