Fractional Shares available at XTB from PLN 10. How it's working?

Fractional Shares make it possible to invest in a small part of the shares of a selected company, thanks to which they not only increase the freedom in selecting securities for the portfolio, but also facilitate control over investments. In recent weeks, the attention of market participants may have been attracted by LPP quotations. At Friday's closing, the shares of the company responsible for such clothing brands as Reserved, Mohito and House were valued at PLN 12 per share. Constructing a diversified portfolio in which LPP will not have a significant share requires a lot of capital. With Fractional Shares you can invest in 0,01 LPP shares for PLN 129,20.

However, for this amount, we can also create a diversified investment portfolio, consisting of many assets. The minimum position size in the case of Fractional Shares concerning Polish companies is only PLN 10, thanks to which in investing we may be limited only by the ability to analyze a larger number of companies.

What are Fractional Shares?

Fractional Shares are a fiduciary right to a portion of a share listed on a regulated market. This means that although XTB remains the actual owner of the shares (because, as a rule, you cannot buy 0,5 shares of a selected company on the open market), all economic benefits from the shares of a given company will be vested in the holder of Fractional Shares. Thus, if LPP pays out the dividend in the following months in the same amount as in the previous year (PLN 350), the investor will receive PLN 35 (PLN 0,1*350). When the number of Fractional Shares held by an investor exceeds the total value (unity), then a "full" share with all accompanying rights (including the right to vote at the general meeting) will be recorded on his account.
