Bitcoin grows mainly on weekends. Why?

created Michał SielskiJuly 8 2019

According to the Bloomberg agency calculations, the weekend's increases in the most-known cryptocurrency rate, i.e. Bitcoin, are definitely more dynamic than changes in prices on weekdays. Why is this happening? Experts are divided.

It is worth noting that the Forex market is inactive over the weekend. Traditional exchanges do not operate on Saturdays and Sundays, and you cannot trade not only indices, but also currencies, commodities and contracts. The cryptocurrency market, however, is decentralized, so no holidays or theoretically non-working days are of great importance to those willing to exchange any cryptocurrency. All thanks to the blockchain technology, which allows you to trade without a "top-down" regulator. So, if a currency "watches itself", it doesn't matter whether it is a weekday, Sunday, or middle of the night during Christmas. Cryptocurrencies can be traded all year round, all week, 24 hours a day.

Weekend increase in the Bitcoin rate

Bloomberg analysts have just checked how to trade on weekends for volatility in the market. Their calculations can be surprising, especially for people who do not watch closely Bitcoin course. It turned out that since May 2019, the weekends have ensured up to 40 percent. the entire BTC exchange rate. Thus, weekends have become the time when the growth of this most recognizable cryptocurrency was by far the highest.

Who is responsible for the BTC price increase?

Why is this happening? Experts are divided. Some put on experienced traders who try to overtake the market and buy BTC over the weekend, before the big price movement starts on Monday. Others argue that retail investors are responsible for these increases.

Hunter Horsley, CEO of Bitwise Asset Management:

“I think weekends are a breakthrough for many people. People then have more free time to read the week's news, chat with friends, chat about exciting things they've heard about, and that influences investment decisions. Also for those who are just discovering the possibilities of cryptocurrencies. "

Others point to one more important issue. The increase does not have to be high, so if it is small investors who buy on weekends, and during this time large players do not place sales orders, the BTC price has less resistance to overcome and it may be easier to grow.

How is it really? You may have more or less probable theories, but traders will not matter. The key information is that we can count on large increases in BTC prices over the weekend, so it's worth considering if and how you can use it in your investment strategy.
