The broker closes the business? Watch out for scammers!

Did you get a call or an e-mail from your broker that it is shutting down? Be sure to verify it at source. Fraudsters have come up with a new idea aimed at extorting access to investment accounts, bank details and the consequent loss of traders' funds. Admirals broker (ex-Admiral Markets) warns against scammers and spreading false information.

Fraud on the "shutdown" of the business by the broker

Virtually every month, we inform about the next manifestations of the ingenuity of fraudsters. There were already ways to "KNF supervision", recovery of cryptocurrencies remaining on the BTC walletand even on An Asian girl from a dating site. This time, the story that aims to convince potential victims to disclose sensitive data to scammers is the broker's termination of operations. Inaccurate information designed to trick investors into submitting data regarding trading and banking accounts i "Assistance in disbursement of funds" it's just a scam. This case was reported by a popular broker Admirals.

In the Admirals announcement we read:

(…) Fraudsters claimed that a broker or financial service provider is shutting down their business and that clients need to act swiftly and should enter their details promptly. 

Warning: This is not true and has nothing to do with Admirals and Admiral Markets. We do not intend to suspend trading activities, close any accounts or restrict access to the services we offer to our clients.

You absolutely should never provide your account access details by phone, e-mail, or any external TeamViewer or AnyDesk software. The transfer of such data is always subject to rigorous verification and there are no exceptions to these rules. We warn against this type of situation and recommend always verifying suspicious contacts from brokers at the source. In the case of unknown companies, always check that the broker is regulated and has all the appropriate licenses and permits for this type of activity.
