DAX with a historical record. Which companies are gaining the most this year?

German DAX index today set a new historic high, breaking the record from November 2021. So let's look at which companies in this index are doing best in 2023 and are somewhat responsible for the current bull market.

Rheinmetall AG

Rheinmetall AG has been the growth leader since the beginning of the year, gaining over 40%. The company, which was founded in 1889, provides technologies for the mobility and security sectors around the world. The company operates in five segments: Vehicle Systems, Weapons and Ammunition, Electronic Solutions, Sensors and Actuators, and Materials and Trade. The Vehicle Systems segment offers combat, support, logistics and special vehicles, including armored tracked vehicles, CBRN protection systems, turret systems and wheeled logistics and tactical vehicles.

The weapons and ammunition segment provides threat-appropriate, effective and precise firepower and protection solutions, such as large and medium caliber weapons and ammunition, protection systems, propellants and international projects and services.

The electronics solutions segment offers a chain of network systems such as sensors, network platforms, automated combined effectors for soldiers and solutions in the field of cyberspace protection, as well as training and simulation solutions.

Its products include air defense systems, soldier systems, command, control and reconnaissance systems, fire control systems, sensors and simulations for military, air force, navy and civilian applications.

Siemens Energy AG

In second place in the list of the best German companies this year is Siemens Energy AG with a rate of return of 37%. Siemens Energy AG operates as an energy technology company worldwide. It operates in two segments: Gas and Power and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

The company provides gas and steam turbines, generators, gas engines, instrumentation and controls, and electrical systems, as well as performance enhancement, maintenance, customer training, and professional consulting services for central and distributed power generation; and transformers, air and gas insulated switchgear, AC transmission systems, offshore wind farm grid connections, high voltage DC transmission systems, high voltage substations, digital solutions and components, and other products.

It also offers rotating equipment, including industrial and aviation gas turbines, turbo and reciprocating compressors, power generation products and compression units and modules, as well as solutions for electrification, automation and digitization, plant safety, plant protection and water treatment. In addition, the company is developing technologies in the field of decarbonized energy and storage systems. In addition, it offers design, engineering, manufacturing and installation solutions for onshore wind turbines; design, manufacture and installation solutions for offshore wind turbines; and operation and maintenance services for wind farms. HeidelbergCement AG

The third place with a YTD return rate of over 30% is occupied by the company HeidelbergCement. Heidelberg, together with its subsidiaries, produces and distributes cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete and asphalt worldwide. supplies cement products; natural stone aggregates, including sand and gravel; crushed aggregates including stone chips and crushed stone; and ready-mix concrete for use in the construction of tunnels or bridges, office buildings or schools, and for the production of precast concrete elements such as stairs, ceiling elements or structural elements.

The company also offers asphalt and trades in cement, clinker, secondary cement materials and solid and alternative fuels. Heidelberg AG was founded in 1873 and is headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany.
