The euro is back in the game! What will the week bring?

created Forex Club12 Września 2022

European Central Bank last week decided to raise interest rates by as much as 75 bp. - the most in the history of the bank so far. During only two ECB meetings, European interest rates were raised by as much as 125 bp. However, the press conference itself following the monetary decision initially took on a dovish style - the ECB intends to continue reinvesting proceeds from its bond portfolio. Christine Lagarde admitted, however, that her bank is far from the level of rates that could bring inflation down to the target, and the market is assuming 5 more ECB hikes.

Inflation in focus

Also in Poland we had to deal with a monetary decision - the MPC raised the interest rates by 25 bp, as expected. However, everyone's eyes are directed towards Federal Reservewhich will have to make its decision on the level of interest rates next week. It seems that its shape will largely depend on the latest August data on inflation in the United States. Fall in prices on the commodity market, especially the situation on the chart oil hope that Tuesday's reading will support the stock market bulls.
