Another university in the US introduces a course on blockchain technology and Bitcoin

Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University joins such giants as Harvard University and Oxford University and begins teaching students about blockchain technology and the world of cryptocurrencies. And not as part of curiosity or extracurricular activities. Students are to learn cryptography, which will be useful in practical application in blockchain technology.

Texas A & M University, or A&M, is another university in the US whose authorities are aware of how important blockchain technology is and will probably be for many years to come. The seventh largest university in the US in terms of the number of students, and by far the largest in Texas, boasts 40-50 thousand students every year. graduates. The university is one of the leaders in the entire United States, and its graduates are vying for the best employers, including the largest companies.

Professor Korok Ray: It wasn't easy, but we're getting started

The "father" of the new subject at the university is Professor Korok Ray. The studies will start on January 17, 2023, i.e. from the spring semester. They will start with the basics of how Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies work, but then they will learn programming. Lectures and exercises will be conducted by Associate Professor Korok Ray, who boasted about it on Twitter. He did not fail to add that convincing the university's program committee was not easy at all.

Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University is not the first university to launch a future-oriented major in Blockchain and Bitcoin technology. Eight other universities have already done so. Others want to follow in their footsteps, already developing detailed guidelines or even educational programs. Depending on their specialization, they focus on technical or e.g. legal aspects of the world of cryptocurrencies. Virtually every university can create a course in line with the profile of the university, which will refer to the increasingly pushing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology in the world.

– Our goal is to teach future lawyers about how to solve potential problems that they may encounter in their work. Countless regulations apply to cryptography, and the problems that cryptographic companies can face around the world are complex and legally complicated, and above all very unspecific in our industry - emphasizes Assistant Professor Thomas Hook from the University of Boston Law School.

Therefore, the university conducts for students, among others, "Crypto Regulation" course. Future lawyers learn there what regulations apply to companies dealing with blockchain technology, learn about rapidly changing legal regulations, but also the entire cryptocurrency market, services and opportunities offered on it. They need to know what individual products are about, what cryptocurrency staking is, what is their mining and how trading on decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges takes place. They also learn about NFT, DeFi and other aspects of the fast-growing cryptocurrency market.
