New shares on offer

In August 2019, Revolut added the opportunity to trade shares. Initially, the service was dedicated only to people using paid packages, but less than 2 months later everyone could invest. Initially, there were 450 companies on the American market at their disposal. Now another 350 companies have joined this group, which extends the number of assets available for trading up to 800.

Revolut application - Facebook shares

At this stage, it's still hard to say that Revolut offers a trading application and in terms of possibilities it can't even be compared with those offered by Forex brokers. But who knows, maybe it's just a matter of time?

The ability to watch selected instruments has been added to the "trading" section. With a list of 800 companies that can only be displayed in alphabetical order, this is a necessary feature. Also added price alerts with push notifications, so that we don't have to regularly check the listings we are interested in (they will also inform us about the payment of dividend for our shares).

Customers using Premium and Metal plans have gained access to functions Latest news. Current news is provided by reputable agencies such as Bloomberg, Business Insider and BBC. The functionality is available in the "Invest" section in the details of the company.

How to configure

By default on our account Revolut trade is not active. To activate it, you need to complete some additional steps:

  • Go to the desktop and expand the option "Stock trading"by pressing the appropriate icon;
  • Touch an option "Show more"to go to the platform;
  • Touch an option "Transfer funds"to immediately add the selected USD amount to your investment account (from your personal account). The minimum is USD 1.
  • Touch an option "Invest"to view the full list of shares with real-time quotes;
  • Trading is active only during the opening hours of the US Stock Exchange (from 15.30 to 22.00 Polish time)
  • Touch the company you are interested in. Then touch an option "Buy"if you wish to acquire its shares, or "Sell"if you want to sell your shares.

If you make more than 3 stock exchange transactions per month, in this case it is worth changing the plan to Premium, which offers up to 8 free transactions per month, or Metal plan, which has no limit on commission-free stock exchange transactions. In the case of Standard and Premium packages, exceeding the indicated limits, a fee of PLN 4 is charged for each subsequent transaction.

Revolut has already announced new products - orders outside the opening hours of exchanges and push notifications about key market events. We will keep you updated on the details.
