Tickmill history
The Tickmill Group was founded and is controlled by the Cypriot citizens of Estonia, Ingmar and Evely Mattus. Ingmar Mattus was the head of the brokerage house in Admiral Markets before founding Armada Markets in his hometown of Estonia in 2011. Armada acted as an introductory broker for the LMAX Exchange and was eventually deposited at Tickmill. The Mattus family hired former City Index manager, ODL Securities and CEO Hirose in the UK, Duncan Anderson, who coordinated the company's operations in the UK. Another family member, Illimar Mattus, serves as a CFO at Tickmill UK and serves as director of the company.
Tickmill UK received the FCA license in July 2016 and started trading in November 2016. Soon after, in 2017, it acquired a CySEC licensed broker - Vipro Markets Ltd - changing its name to Tickmill Europe Ltd .. This company is still led by Vipro co-founder Valerijus Ovsianikas. The group also has a Seychelles licensed entity.
