In the context of finance, Polish women investors think ahead

created Forex Club6 March 2023

Polish women investors think ahead when it comes to their finances - we can conclude on the basis of the quarterly survey eToro, Pulse of the Individual Investor. Women are more likely to choose a long-term rather than a short-term approach to investing. They not only diversify their investment choices, but also calculate risks and analyze potential challenges.

What do Polish investors invest in?

Polish women most often own shares, debentures or funds (89%), a savings account is their second choice (68%). These results are in line with the global trend among women (bonds - 92 percent; savings account - 72 percent). This is proof that in the post-pandemic reality, they seek security and take more cautious, more traditional steps to ensure slower growth and less risk.

Anna Rozańska, Popular Trader on eToro, also known as Anna Panda Boss, says:

These rather safe preferences seem perfectly justified in today's complex and volatile economy. The research results provided by eToro show that in the next 3 months, many Polish women are afraid of inflation (36%), the global economy (13%), the conflict in Ukraine (15%) and the national debt (9%). In the long term, they are slightly less concerned about inflation (down to 30%) and the economy (down to 11%), perhaps due to positive outlook here and there, but more fearful of international conflict (up to 19%) in in the next 12 months, believing that these factors will continue to strongly affect their finances. Either way, these women seem to know it's better to be safe than sorry. The most natural reaction to challenging market conditions and general global sentiment is to expect the unexpected. Managing your risk and minimizing your losses can be just as important as following your profit.

In fact, it leads to a very healthy approach, because Polish women take many factors into account when looking at the long term. They think about such phenomena as digital transformation (24%) and automation (24%), but also an aging society (18%). This makes a lot of sense, because about 36 percent. of them invest for months, and almost 48 percent. surveyed women for decades.

They believe in improving their performance

Trusting their knowledge and intuition, over ⅕ of the surveyed women (22%) still predict that their profits may increase by 0-10%, and 17% hopes that in 2023 their profits will increase even more than inflation - by 10-20 percent.

Anna Rozańska comments on the data:

Despite awareness and skepticism, we cannot say that the participants of the study see the future only in dark colors. About 42 percent of surveyed women say they invest in kryptowaluty, because it is an attractive asset to own, compared to 32 percent. of surveyed men who said so. About 32 percent of Polish women say they trade cryptocurrency assets because they believe they have a bright future, and 35 percent. consider it a hedge against inflation. This leads to the fact that almost half of Polish women on eToro (47 percent) plan to invest in cryptocurrencies in the next quarter.

If Polish investors decide to increase the amount they invest, they rather do it in small steps. In the last 3 months, over 36 percent. slightly increased the amount, and only 21 percent. increased it significantly. In the next quarter, they plan to invest slightly more (38%) and much more money (17%).

Purpose of the investment? Future proofing

In order to understand the possible motives of female investors, it is necessary to check what the main objectives of their investments are. Nearly half (45 percent) do it to ensure long-term security, 33 percent. – to increase their income, 28 percent. – for financial independence, 21 percent. - for extra money for retirement and 15 percent – with a view to groundbreaking, large expenses in the future. This tells us that independence and personal finance are at the top of the user's list of priorities eToro.

Anna Rozańska, Popular Trader on eToro, adds:

Personally, I don't underestimate the power of a solid investment goal and its impact on our performance as traders. Planning and adapting to different market scenarios helps us to prepare, weigh our decisions better and focus on what is important, and - looking at the results provided by eToro's "Individual Investor Pulse" research - on a prosperous and secure future for us, our businesses and for those we care about.
