In Venezuela, even seniors pay in the Petro cryptocurrency

Although we are aware of how much Poland is missing from the most technologically developed countries, but we like to think about ourselves that against the backdrop of so-called the rest of the world Poland looks really impressive. Meanwhile, in the field of cryptocurrency, Venezuela, plunged into a crisis for many years, beats us.

Polish national pride is, of course, nothing bad, but it is worth realizing that it is often built on fragile foundations. This is the case with cryptocurrencies, which are common in more and more countries, and in Poland they are still treated - at best - with a pinch of salt.

We recently learned data from Venezuela, where the government introduced cryptocurrency Petro to protect the wages and savings of its countrymen against inflation at an alarmingly fasting of traditional currency. Initially, trust in Petro was low, as it was pointed out that it would serve mainly large companies and state-owned companies that would thus bypass the international embargo and be able to to trade oil, which is not lacking in Venezuela. With time, however, it was not only possible at Petro pay at gas stations, but even to receive pensions and other benefits, which translated into increased interest in cryptocurrency.

Cryptocurrency to the rescue of the budget

The Venezuelan government has just announced that last month, 15% of fuel purchases in the country were made using petro. Cryptocurrency has already become commonplace, and PTR is used by people of all age groups and regardless of material status. This is in line with the government's plan, which wants to improve the economic situation of its citizens, and thus the entire country.

Interestingly, increasing petro interest is not everything. In addition to cryptocurrency in Venezuela, Bipago biometric technology is becoming increasingly popular, which significantly facilitates the payment of tokens for fuel.

USA: Petro is a scam

The Americans, of course, have the most complaints about the idea of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. US President Donald Trump recently said petro is a fraud and an attempt to circumvent international sanctions. Maduro hits the ball, saying that if it were not for the sanctions, no one would think about petro payments in Venezuela, because it would be a land flowing with milk and honey ... Well, it was not even before the sanctions were introduced, and the voices in the country are quite clear .

"Regardless of whether the government is right in accusing international leaders of the situation in the country or not, it cannot be denied that wages are still falling and prices are rising in an uncontrolled manner. Therefore, the question of Petro's impact on the Venezuelan economy seems to leave more doubt than satisfaction. " - comments Venezuelan journalist Daniel Jimenez.

Americans are determined enough to thwart plans to develop a cryptocurrency in Venezuela that they even offer a reward for helping determine where Venezuelan director of cryptographic assets is staying Joselit Ramirez. For what purpose? This can only be guessed.

However, it is known for sure that the popularity of PTR in Venezuela is constantly growing. Mostly because the traditional currency struggles with galloping inflation, but that's not the only reason. Petro is also chosen because by betting on cryptocurrency when paying for individual products or services offered by state-owned companies, you simply get bonuses - e.g. a lower price for fuel. It is hardly surprising that sane Venezuelans choose cheaper solutions, and the popularity of digital money is growing rapidly.
