FXCM volume - USA vs "rest of the world"

created Paweł Mosionek16 February 2017

FXCM, an American broker around which it has become extremely hot recently, has presented a report in which we can find the results of trading generated by clients. The new chart is particularly interesting as it is the first time that the US versus "rest of the world" clientele has been shown, whereas previously we only dealt with the overall report. In the last article, we tried to estimate the order of the volume we deal with in the transaction of resale of clients to Gain Capital (read: Gain Capital will pay the FXCM broker even 750 $ per customer). From theoretical calculations based on the available data, FXCM has approximately 35 000 customers in the US, who generate an average of 53 billion USD turnover each month.

FXCM reports ...

46 764 - is the number of active US clients of the banned broker. According to the presented data, the value of trading in January this year. is $ 9 billion more than our monthly average estimate of $ 62 billion, while all customers have a combined turnover of $ 315 billion. This is 18% more than in December 2016 and 26% less than in January 2016.

An active customer is defined as a person who has concluded at least one transaction during the last year.

So far, nothing has been heard about the plans of regulators towards FXCM in other parts of the world, however, the issue of the impact of the events in the USA on the turnover generated in the United Kingdom, which is their second (now the first?) Largest group of clients, seems to be extremely interesting. Will this information trigger a mass churn of customers? There is a good chance of that.
