One of the most important raw materials in the chemical industry and the basic energy carrier. Referred to as "black gold". Crude oil is valued in relation to the USD, where the price is quoted per barrel (approx. 159 l). There are two types of crude oil on the exchanges - Brent Crude Oil (extracted from the North Sea) and Light Sweet Crude Oil (the so-called sweet WTI).

The largest oil deposits can boast such countries as Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Russia.

Saudi Arabia, Russia, the USA, China and Canada dominate in terms of extraction.
