Is this the end of the crisis in Europe? What will the week bring?

created Forex ClubJanuary 9 2023

The first week of this year in the markets was marked by increases. The optimism of investors is fueled by weather conditions in Europe. Temperatures across the continent are clearly below average, and a warm winter is associated with a drop in gas demand. The raw material, which was to become Vladimir Putin's political weapon, is getting cheaper, and gas stocks in European warehouses are at a high level. We even observe an anomaly in the form of an increase in the filling of warehouses, despite the fact that we are in the middle of the heating season. The improvement in energy price expectations is also significant.

Inflation is falling

There is a growing chance for a further, significant drop in inflation in Europe, and consequently, European Central Bank it may not be forced to tighten as much as it currently communicates. Falling inflation also means improving the competitiveness of European industry and reducing the level of destruction of demand as a result of rising prices. It is worth noting, however, that core inflation in the euro area remains at an elevated level, which may not diminish the determination of ECB decision makers.
