Women's Day: It is curiosity that drives Polish women to invest

This curiosity, apart from the desire to have additional income in the future, pushes Polish women to invest. On average, they invest money for a period from one to five years, which is shorter than German and American women. When a Polish woman invests, it means that she is likely to manage all or a larger part of the family budget at the same time.

Curiosity and Extra Income

As investing in Poland is still less popular than in more developed countries, Polish women are less often persuaded to do so by their family, friends and the environment in which they operate. Such a motivation for their own actions was indicated by 23 percent. investing Polish women, but 27 percent. German women and 38 percent American women.

Polish women invest in a shorter period of time

The investment perspective also differs from German and American women. Most Polish women (37%) invest for a period of 1 to 5 years. German women most often (30%) invest for a period of 6 to 10 years. American women, on the other hand, most often choose a 10-year or longer perspective (33%). Among Polish investors there are also the largest number of women investing for a period shorter than 6 months (5%), in the USA it is 3%. and in Germany, 2 percent. A shorter investment perspective means a greater risk of the portfolio created in this way.

In their portfolios, 32 percent. investing Polish women there are shares from the Warsaw Stock Exchange. On the other hand, half as many women (16%) allocate their funds to foreign markets. However, Polish women are more willing to invest globally than Americans - 53 percent. of them have US stocks, and only 13 percent. from other markets. German women should rather be an example for us, as they own domestic stocks almost as often (27 percent) as foreign stocks (23 percent). Geographic diversification is one of the basic forms of portfolio differentiation to reduce its risk. This is especially true in these difficult times.

In recent months, commodity prices have risen first as a result of rising tensions and then war. 25 percent of their funds have invested in this market. Polish and 28 percent. German investors. Gold, clothing, copper whether other raw materials are much less popular among American women, of which only 16 percent. operates in this market.

Investing Polish women usually have a family home budget on their own or almost independently. 32 percent investing Polish women independently dispose of 100 percent. your family budget. However, as much as 69 percent. investor in Poland has 60 percent. or more of a home budget.


Survey conducted for eToro by Appinio from Feb 4 - Feb 15, 2022. 9 female retail investors in 504 countries were involved. After 14 in: Great Britain, USA, Germany, France, Spain and Australia. 1000 in the following countries: Italy, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and the Czech Republic, Denmark (500) and Norway (319). Investors were defined as those who owned investments such as bonds, mutual funds, cryptocurrencies, currencies, stocks, currencies and cash tied to the stock markets.
