Fraudsters pretend to be Binance support

created Paweł Mosionek12 March 2021

Beware of scammers who pretend to be employees Cryptocurrency exchanges Binance! The purpose of scammers is data to accounts on the exchange in order to withdraw funds from them, as well as access to computers using the application

The scheme of operation

The scenario is similar to that of the "Forex market". We pick up the phone and the person on the other side introduces himself as an analyst / employee of a multinational company [in this case Binance]. We are tempted by the vision of fast, large and virtually reliable earnings on cryptocurrencies. Who hasn't heard of the crazy price rally lately Bitcoin? However, in order to be able to earn, you need to create an account on the cryptocurrency exchange, and the calling consultant will help us in this. In order for everything to go smoothly, he asks us to install the software for remote computer access - AnyDesk.

The next step is to deposit funds. An unaware investor logs into his bank to transfer funds - and at this point the fraudster may already have access to our bank account. Even if we lose nothing at this stage, the funds that we transfer to Binance are then exchanged for cryptocurrencies and sent to scammer wallets.

Verification of Binance employees

Binance is one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. So it was necessary to act quickly. For this purpose, a special subpage has been created where we can check whether a given contact is in fact authentic. Typing HERE www address, phone number, e-mail address, contact with WeChat or Telegram, we can check if it really comes from Binance. If so, the website will return the following message to us. Otherwise, we are sure that we have encountered an attempted fraud.
