Recession at the gates - What will the week bring? [Video Comment]

created Forex ClubJuly 4 2022

Last week, the situation in the markets was again characterized by increased volatility. Further macroeconomic data do not give reasons for optimism, but nevertheless we recorded temporary gains in some markets. However, all indications are that we will see a recession in the United States soon, and this may have a significant impact on the market. The beginning of July is also a good time to look at the situation on Wall Street and the first conclusions are frightening, as we have witnessed the worst six months since the 70s. Interestingly, this does not necessarily mean a continuation of this negative trend.

The specter of a recession

Unfortunately, the situation in Poland does not look any better, and one can even risk a statement that our economy may slow down significantly. This can be proved by, inter alia, inflation or PMI readings. This week, we expect further moves from the Monetary Policy Council, and this may have a strong reflection either on the Polish currency or on the moves on the WSE.

We invite you to a webinar with the Chief Economist XTB Przemysław Kwiecień, PhD, in which he will present the current chart and answer the following questions:

  • Will we see a drastic increase in interest rates in Poland?
  • Will the trend of negative macroeconomic data from the world continue?
  • What is an "inflation surprise"?
  • Is the recession in the United States real? What are the prospects for the oil market?
