Crude oil is the most expensive in a month - over $ 75 per barrel

created Daniel KosteckiDecember 29, 2021

Oil prices seem to be catching up since the end of November, when information about a new strain of the coronavirus first became available. On Wednesday morning, a barrel of crude oil cost the most in a month, i.e. over $ 75 a barrel.

Price increases may justify investors' risk appetite. It seems to be stronger than the risks of the mutation today omikron. This belief seems to be supported by a South African study that showed that omicron infections can increase resistance against the delta variant and potentially displace it.

Crude oil prices could gain over 50% this year. thanks to demand return and supply cuts by major oil producing countries. However, the supply may increase soon. January 4, 2022 members OPEC + will meet to decide whether to continue the 400k increase in output planned for February barrels a day.

European indices go up again

The main European stock indices seem to reflect the positive sentiment of investors. German DAX gained yesterday and closed Tuesday's quotations at the highest level in five weeks, close to 16000 points. Euro Stoxx 50 in turn, it ended Tuesday near the record level (4320 points), and the French CAC 40 broke the record, reaching almost 7200 points.

Optimism on stock exchanges also seems to justify investors' belief that the omicron will not derail the global economic recovery.
