Electric cars in the lead - the most popular actions of 2021

created Forex ClubJanuary 21 2022

2021 turned out to be very favorable for global equities with markets gaining around 20%. It was the year in which the global economy recovered with the introduction of vaccines, the concept of "memic action" emerged, and supply chains came under maximum pressure. All of this meant intense market transactions. In this article, we discuss the most popular actions among customers Saxo Bank last year.

The beginning of the year is a time of summaries and reflections on the past 12 months. In keeping with tradition, Saxo publishes a list of the most popular stocks in the past year. It started with great volatility and a campaign conducted on the portal Reddit, as a result of which the activity of retail investors increased sharply in relation to a number of intensively sorted stocks, incl. companies GameStop i AMC. Many of these entities continue to find new investors, even though the interest in these companies has decreased. Saxo group analysts have consistently encouraged investors to be cautious and regularly monitor risk when trading these equities in an environment of unprecedentedly high volatility.

While some of the investments stood out in terms of both popularity and return, overall, last year was generally positive: - 2021 has been positive for global equities with markets gaining around 20%. The solid performance was driven by a strong 104% increase in earnings in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the same period last year.

From the macroeconomic perspective, last year there were some key events that influenced the overall financial performance: - As the following months of 2021 passed, a number of trends began to emerge. Global supply chains were under maximum pressure and were unable to respond to the exceptional demand from developed economies. Consequently there was an increase in the cost of goods and a reduction in the supply of key elements used in the industrysuch as semiconductors, which had a negative effect on car production. As a result, mining and semiconductor stocks did the best of all global stocks last year.

Supply constraints coupled with high demand led to inflation that is much broader and less temporary in nature than held by central banks - December meeting FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) finally paved the way for rate hikes in 2022 as inflation has become a key economic concern and a threat to growth.

This meant that while 2021 was broadly favorable, it proved difficult for some of the previous year's winnings: interest rates. As a result, the big winners of 2020, i.e. companies related to, inter alia, with a green transformation, e-commerce and stock bubble stocks, 2021 had some of the worst results. This year will also be remembered as the one in which China grappled with perhaps its greatest challenges since the global financial crisis - the escalating crisis in the real estate market, the introduction of strict technology regulations in the name of "common prosperity" and the ever weaker domestic demand made Chinese equities companies have lagged far behind the rest of the world.

On the other hand India turned out to be one of the biggest winners of the first phase of the pandemicand the strong stock market and profits hit new records. In 2022, the biggest question for investors is how much will the interest rate increase be, as many trends for the next year depend on it.
