The hot last week of April in the financial markets

created Marcin KiepasApril 26 2021

Monday in the financial markets passes in a rather sleepy atmosphere. However, this is the proverbial silence before the storm, because a week may bring a lot of emotions and potential returns on the financial markets.

What the week will bring

In April, the index of the Munich Ifo institute rose to 96,8 from 96,6 points. a month earlier. And although the data released in the morning were worse than forecasts, they did not cause any major emotions in the financial markets. These are missing today. Trading on European stock exchanges, including the Warsaw Stock Exchange, is quite sleepy. There is also little going on in the currency market, where the stabilization of the quotes EUR / USD close to 1,21, it also limits volatility on many other currency pairs.

This Monday calm in the markets is only apparent. It's gonna be a really hot week. Both on the stock exchanges and on Forex market. There will be plenty of potential impulses. Starting from the results of the companies, through the meeting Fed and macroeconomic data, and ending with the speech of the US President Joe Biden.

US QXNUMX results

This week, the financial results for the first quarter of this year. several large concerns will publish, which will have an impact on the stocks on Wall Street, and indirectly also on other exchanges. Tesla will do it today after the session in the US. In the following days, the results will be shown, among others, by Google, Microsoft, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, Facebook, Amazon and Twitter.

The highlight of the week in all markets will be the Wednesday meeting of the US Federal Reserve. However, due to the fact that it is unlikely to bring any surprising decisions, one should rather pay attention to the macroeconomic data. Investors will learn mainly the preliminary readings of April inflation in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland and the Euro Zone, as well as preliminary readings on GDP dynamics in the first quarter of 2021 for the USA, Germany, France and Spain. The latter figures will show how economies fared in the first three months of the year when the pandemic was still scary. Inflation reports, on the other hand, whether inflation is really to be feared and whether it will have an impact on future decisions of central banks.

The last element worth paying attention to is the speech by US President Joe Biden in Congress scheduled for Thursday at 03:00 CET. It will focus on the pandemic and the economy, two main themes that are now of interest to investors.
