Record turnover of retail Forex brokers in March [IC Markets, Tickmill]

At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there was tremendous volatility in the Forex market, but also commodities (especially oil) and stocks, which resulted in a large influx of new clients and their capital to brokers. Do you think that everything has calmed down a long time ago and the world of finance only mentions the historical profits? None of that, top retail brokers just announced they set new all-time records in March.

When the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown in other countries began, we had a real Eldorado in the markets. Who predicted a huge downward move, e.g. on oil price, and then a quick return upwards, or simply withstood the trend, could secure himself, loved ones, and even the next generations. The vision of immeasurable wealth successfully encouraged new investors to open brokerage accounts and try to face the invisible hand of the market. For years, however, statistics have invariably indicated that most of them have lost a large part of their capital.

Agents earned a lot for it. Brokers from practically all over the world recorded huge profits, broke records in terms of turnover, profits and new clients.

Tickmill Group: $ 195,6 billion in turnover in March

So after almost a year everything should be back to "normal", but it turns out that retail brokers are still doing great. Tickmill Group has just announced  that in March the volume of its turnover reached USD 195,6 billion. This is a record in the entire history of the company's operations.

Tickmill, operating, inter alia, under the regulations of Cyprus, Seychelles, Malaysia, South Africa, but also the United Kingdom, it is a broker offering currency pairs on the Forex market and CFDs. You can see that strong marketing helps in attracting new customers even in the period when the market has calmed down a bit. This is evidenced by the results of the entire first quarter, described by Financial Magnates. In January, the trading volume Tickmill amounted to USD 147,4 billion, and in February USD 167,5 billion. It is growing month by month and the first quarter of 2021 should close with a record turnover of $ 511 billion.

Interestingly, each of the first three months of this year was better than the average turnover in the record-breaking 2020, when Tickmill was reporting $ 142 billion in turnover per month, which means that now the broker can boast a 14,7% better result than before. This was due to over 38 million transactions in the first quarter of 2021.

Duncan Anderson, CEO of Tickmill UK

“After a dynamic 2020, we are poised to reach a new level of excellence in the coming year by offering the products, services and tools that matter most to our customers, while keeping trading costs to a minimum. This year we want to take our product offer to a completely new level, thanks to technologically advanced solutions " - says Tickmill UK CEO Duncan Anderson.

IC Markets: $ 1,04 trillion in trading in March

The broker also boasted phenomenal results for March IC Markets, which reported that in March 2021 they reached $ 1,04 trillion. It is also a record in the company's history and everything indicates that it is not the only one. In the first quarter of this year IC Markets turnover of $ 2,84 trillion, i.e. 19% more than in the first quarter of 2020.

Therefore, it may also break the annual record, because the company boasts in the press release that the growing turnover is related to a wide product offer, which translates into the number of customers. IC Markets indeed offers a wide range of instruments: through it you can trade currencies, stocks, commodities, futures contracts on indices and commodities, and recently also cryptocurrencies.
