Tesla buys Bitcoins for $ 1,5 billion. The course has blasted off into space

created Michał Sielski8 February 2021

Tesla informed that she had purchased in January Bitcoiny for $ 1,5 billion. After this information, the cryptocurrency exchange rate beats the all-time record, and the automotive giant, producing electric cars, announces that this is not the end of the investment, and it will be possible to pay for its cars in BTC soon.

$ 44 - that's how much was paid for one Bitcoin after 918 on Monday 14 February 08 on the Binance cryptocurrency exchange. This is an all-time record. The price increase of a dozen or so percent is not only due to speculative movements, but to information provided by the automotive company Tesla, which is listed on the American stock exchange.

Virtually the entire increase is a matter of several dozen minutes. It began after the Tesla report was published by the US The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It turned out that in January Tesla representatives were very active in the cryptocurrency market. The company has invested in Bitcoins, and it is not a small amount. It is reported that it has earmarked $ 1,5 billion for this. What's more, this is not the end - the management board admitted that Tesla has not yet implemented the entire plan and there will be more purchases in the near future. No wonder that the rate of the world's largest cryptocurrency soared up and set new price records.

Tesla wants to diversify its resources. So it was decided that part of the surplus will be kept in cryptocurrencies - initially in Bitcoins. This is possible thanks to Tesla's investment policy approved by the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. According to it, surpluses may be invested in companies listed on stock exchanges, gold and other precious metals, ETFs and digital assets. Apparently, the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, decided that the cryptocurrency would be the most promising investment in the near future. And in the case of billionaires, such information is almost always a self-fulfilling prophecy, the effect of which we see in the chart. Other investors often just follow their guru, hoping that he is right this time too.

You will pay for Tesla in Bitcoins

In recent days, Elon Musk has repeatedly spoken positively about cryptocurrencies and - as you can see - it was no accident. The company also announced that the cars it produces can be purchased for BTC. It is not known yet exactly when it will happen and on what terms. However, the direction of changes has been clearly defined.

In the same report, however, the company warns investors that the prices of digital assets such as Bitcoin are subject to significant and often very dynamic changes. This may cause Tesla's operating results to decline in certain quarters. We also read that there is a risk of hacking attacks, as well as the loss of private keys to Bitcoin, which may end up in their loss or inability to use them.

Everything indicates, however, that this is proverbial blowing cold, because it is difficult to expect such huge amounts of money to be invested without a profit plan. The risk is obviously high, but Elon Musk certainly assumes an increase in the value of BTC and has a plan to use cryptocurrencies in the company's daily operations.

Elon Musk is a cryptocurrency enthusiast

Careful observers have noticed some time ago that Elon Musk's approach to Bitcoin, or rather cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology in general, has changed significantly. Muliarder changed his description on Twitter two weeks ago, placing the Bitcoin icon there. This move alone was enough for the price of the "king of cryptocurrencies" to increase by 10%. In recent days, he has also spoken positively about other cryptocurrencies, even those that others call shitcoins - as made for a joke Dogecoin. The value of which has also grown strongly recently. Its valuation in US dollars increased by 104% last week and by 646% in the last month.
