Watch out for Mars Stealer - this cryptocurrency can rob you

created Michał Sielski4 February 2022

Have you read about less known cryptocurrency projects that allowed you to earn millions in a few months and you also want to find your gem? Be careful, part of the so-called shitcoins are created not only so that their creators can earn on speculation and leave investors with tokens purchased at the tops of quotations. There are also such - such as e.g. Mars Stealer - which can steal all cryptocurrencies from your wallet.

I guess no one doubts that some stories from the world of cryptocurrencies can ignite the imagination. Many people think it's a great rally Bitcoin it's something that will never repeat itself, but history has shown more than once that it repeats itself more often than we think. It is enough to choose "only" the right cryptocurrency, invest a small amount in it and wait for the price to shoot.

Shiba Inu: from $ 3200 to $ 5,63 billion

The magic of earnings on the so-called shitcoinach is primarily about the fact that you do not have to invest huge amounts in them to become a millionaire, or even ... a billionaire. One of the anonymous investors made available on the Internet an insight into his portfolio, where everyone could follow the growth of the value of his assets. And it must be admitted that you could get facial flushing, because 2020 thousand zlotys were invested in August 3,4. USD in Shiba Inu tokens, after a year they were already worth ... USD 1,55 billion. This is the rate of return at the level of 94%.

Another investor believed in this token so much that he was buying it Shiba Inu from August 2020, a total of 44 times. The maximum purchase amount was $ 3200. The portfolio was valued at $ 5,63 billion at the peak of trading.

No wonder that many people not only dream of following in their footsteps, but also do a lot to make it happen. There are those who, using online tools, capture the most trending cryptocurrencies and invest in them small amounts. Others choose ... a catchy name. Recently, all coins with dog breeds have been in vogue, so any variation with Doge, Floki, Shiba etc. could count on your interest. Still others buy everything that the influencers even mention.

From millionaire to zero

People who are looking for the perfect shot that will change their lives are most often convinced that they are not risking anything. They invest small amounts in shitcoins, realizing that they can lose on it - at most they will stay with worthless cryptocurrencies. But this is a false belief.

It turns out that there are cryptocurrencies that, when added to your wallet, turn into malware that can steal all your remaining funds. One of them is Mars Stealer, which attacks cryptocurrency wallets. Most exchanges have already withdrawn it.

The blog 2019xp3rt informed that it is in fact an advanced Trojan built on the basis of the infamous Oski from 0. According to 3xp0rt, Mars Stealer can attack wallets that are based on web browsers. It has already been proven to be dangerous for 40 browser wallets. In them, it can even take over two-factor authentication using the grabber function, which steals the user's wallet's private keys.

Official blog announcement 3xp0rt leaves no illusions:

“Mars Stealer, written in ASM / C using WinApi, is 95 kb in weight. Uses special techniques to hide WinApi calls, encrypts strings, stores information in memory, supports SSL secure connection with C&C, does not use CRT, STD. "

We read further that, among others, there is no problem with getting into the most popular wallets that have been considered very safe so far, including: MetaMask, Coinbase, Binance Chain Wallet, Nifty Wallet or Tron Link.

Russian investors are safe

Malware doesn't have to end up with cryptocurrencies, however. Mars Stealer takes over virtually all information from the computer: from the processor model, through all identifiers, or installed software, to passwords that we will enter on the keyboard.

Interestingly, Mars Stealer first checks the country of the wallet owner. If it turns out that it is from Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan ... then there is nothing to worry about, because the application will remain dormant. So there are probably no great doubts from which region the developers of this software come from.
