XTB establishes cooperation with BlackRock. Objective? Popularization of ETFs and passive investing

Broker XTB begins strategic cooperation with BlackRock, a global leader in investment solutions, consulting and risk management. Both brands will work to promote financial education and popularize ETFs. The first market where both entities will start cooperation will be Spain.

According to XTB data, in 2023 as many as 70 percent clients started their adventure with investing with shares or ETFs. This number shows that it was the capital market that aroused the greatest interest in the offer of Polish fintech. This fact did not go unnoticed by the global investment giant such as BlackRock. Therefore, in February 2024, both global players started cooperation.

First, Spain

The partnership aims to promote the culture of saving and capital management, investment plans based on ETFs and to increase public awareness of the latest investment solutions. Spain was chosen because it is one of the most populous countries in Europe, and Euromonitor data for 2023 shows that there is a real problem with society accumulating capital. The ratio of savings to income there was 5,8%. That is why the cooperation between XTB and BlackRock will aim to increase the financial awareness of Spaniards and show them the opportunities regarding passive investing.

Strong position of American markets

The introduction of ETF-based Investment Plans is a response to the current market demand. The product was very well received both in Poland and on foreign markets. It is worth emphasizing, however, that in most markets a similar strategy dominates among passive investors, because globally the most popular are ETFs based on Nasdaq 100, S & P 500 and MSCI World. Interestingly, the TOP5 choices of Investment Plan users are closed by an ETF replicating the results of companies involved in environmental protection, society and good corporate practices (ESG).

The mentioned XTB Investment Plans are a proprietary tool that is intended to help clients build financial well-being, which is consistent with BlackRock's main goal.

Index funds are extremely popular in the United States, but this trend is also visible in Europe. In Poland in 2020, only 8% of people purchased instruments of this type on the XTB investment platform. users, while in 2023 this percentage was as much as 24%. This is also confirmed by the results of the 21st National Investor Survey organized by the Association of Individual Investors. According to the declarations of Polish investors, as many as 45,6 percent of them invest in ETFs.
