Will the earnings season improve market sentiment?

created Forex ClubJuly 18 2022

The earnings season in the United States is already underway - last week, the largest banks informed about changes in the second quarter of this year. Currently, investors are waiting for the publication of IBM reports, Tesla or Netflix. However, it seems that market participants are focusing more on the current geopolitical situation and the still smoldering energy crisis in Europe rather than on the results of the companies themselves.

Fed against the wall

Recent data from the US indicate that inflation in the United States is not letting go of what it poses Fed against the wall. However, experts are convinced that if commodity prices continue to decline, a noticeable decline in price growth may not be visible until autumn. Markets therefore expect the Fed to soften the tone and limit the number and size of future interest rate hikes in fear of recession. The situation of the European Central Bank is completely different, as it will decide on the level of interest rates next Thursday. The second quarter of this year was a period of considerable turbulence in the global economy. Although the war in Ukraine and the global increase in inflation have had a negative impact on the markets, Wall Street still expects an increase in corporate profits.
