The worst session on the WSE since September is underway. The zloty is losing strongly

At the beginning of the second half of the day, after 13:00 p.m., the main index of the Warsaw Stock Exchange fell by about 2,3 percent. The index of the twenty largest companies, WIG20, fell by about 2,5 percent, which at the moment is the worst session for this index since September 2022. Then, being close to 1400 points. WIG20 collapsed by over 3,8 percent. For mWIG40, with a decrease of about 2,15 percent, the worst session since the beginning of December is underway, and for sWIG80, which is falling by 1,7 percent. the session is the worst since September 26, 2022. At this point, it should be noted that along with the fall of the main stock exchange indices, the zloty is also weakening. As a result WIG20USD index dives at 13:10 by almost 3,8 percent.

Capital outflow from abroad

Foreign investors, leaving the trading floor at Książęca Street, seem to be reacting to reports of an offensive by Russian troops in Ukraine. According to the Polish Press Agency, Russian troops attacked the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts at night with a record number of S-300 missiles fired from Russia's Belgorod Oblast and from the occupied Tokmak.

The zloty is losing heavily

The EUR/PLN pair rose on Friday to PLN 4,78 and is close to breaking the peak of November 16. If so, the zloty would be the weakest against the euro since October 25. The US dollar at 13:30 p.m. cost PLN 4,46 and is the most expensive in a month. In turn, the Swiss franc cost PLN 4,84 and was the most expensive since mid-November.
