Current DOW Jones 30 rate - real-time chart

DOW JONES is one of the most important indices of companies listed on NASDAQ. It is marked with abbreviations: DOW, DOW30, DJI (Dow Jones Industrial) and has been published since May 26, 1896. Its authors are Charles Dow and Edward Jones, who created the "ranking" of the 12 most profitable companies. Since then, the line-up has been gradually expanded, and only General Electric has remained from the original list. During the first publication, the index was trading at 40,94 points. In 1916, the stock portfolio was increased to 20, and in 1928 to 30 companies. It includes such global concerns as Apple, Coca-Cola, Intel, IBM, McDonald's, Microsoft, Visa.

The index started at 40,94 points. It was only in 1972 that the level of 1000 points was reached for the first time. October 24, 1929, went down in history as Black Thursday and was the first day of a sharp sell-off on the New York Stock Exchange. Despite trying to calm the situation the next day, on October 28 and 29, the DJIA lost 12,82% and 11,73% respectively. The index did not reach a higher level than before the crash in the 50s, i.e. almost 30 years after the collapse.
